realtek new driver 06 30 2006

New driver for Vista available. Realtek new driver 06/30/2006

does this driver fix 5.1 sound issues? the last driver i think it was available 06/15/2006 (dont remmember exactly) did not recognize a 5.1 speaker set up. has anyone tried this new yet?

I just have 2 speakers so I don't know. It did solve all my problems which was mainly becomming uninstalled. Good luck.

The new driver is better than the old...at least it installs without the error message of the previous driver and it seems to work better. However, it isn't perfect yet. The sound is better and I can usually get the mike working now, but I'm not sure everything will work at once (mike, modem, speakers, etc.).

had the opposite experience myself. I loaded in the new driver, restarted and lost all sound. this is with the driver apparently installing correctly. I loaded up the acl control panel. and it gave me an error saying that i didn't have a valid windows vista sound driver loaded. ran windows update and pulled the audio driver from there, restarted and things work again.

Where do you get that driver from? On there site i can only find one from 22/06 2006.

Auto update is giving me the option to install a Realtek driver dated 7/10. Is that the same beta driver on the Realtek site (which I've installed and is working pretty well) or is it a newer version? Has anyone installed the 7/10 driver from Vista and found an improvement?
